Why 107 is Orchard’s Magic Number
We know that we have the highest level of employment in the UK since 1971, the highest level of open vacancies since 2007 and the lowest level of available candidates since 2008.
Consequently we know that it’s taking longer to fill a vacancy than it did a few years ago AND we are having to engage with and talk to a far greater number of potential employees than ever before.
The analysis of our own data has provided some startling results. In Q1 2016 the number of relevant job hunters that we engaged with for every vacancy we filled was 107 (2015 it was 83 and 2014 it was 68).
Of those 107, on average we carry out skills and IT tests on only 15 of the 107.
And of the 15 we ask 9 to carry out psychometric assessments.
We then interview 5 candidates face to face and then only 3 will meet our clients.
And 1 will be offered a position and start.
That’s why 107 is Orchard’s magic number.
