Will your Social Media presence cost you your next job?
With so many of us on Facebook and LinkedIn these days, we have established that
- 52% of employers look on Facebook before they pick up the phone to talk to job applicants ( Orchard do this too of course)
- 48% of companies have decided NOT to interview an applicant purely because of their profile
- 35% of employers won’t hire if NO on line information exists (eg no Facebook or LinkedIn)
- 21% have been ready to offer a job, only to change their minds based upon a social media profile
Now, you might argue that it’s NOT FAIR or an infringement of your human rights etc or that employers should not be so prejudiced!
The reality is that everyone is watching!
Just be careful about what you post, who you publicly associate with and who tags you; it might just cost you your next job!
